Museum of Islamic Art

I. M. Pei's museum on Doha's Corniche, with galleries covering more than 1,400 years of Islamic art and a park that runs down to the water.

Doha · Qatar · Experiences

The Museum of Islamic Art stands on its own reclaimed island at the end of the Doha Corniche. Designed by I. M. Pei and opened in 2008, the building is as much the attraction as the collection, with its stacked geometry and the view back across the bay to the West Bay towers.

The permanent galleries are arranged around themes, periods and geography, covering Islamic art across more than 1,400 years. The collection ranges from manuscripts and ceramics to textiles, metalwork and jewellery.

Allow at least two hours inside, then continue into MIA Park, which wraps around the museum and is one of the better places in Doha for a late afternoon walk.
