Hegra Day Tour

A guided visit to Hegra, Saudi Arabia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site, with transport inside the site and local Rawi storytellers leading the route.

Hegra, AlUla · Saudi Arabia · Experiences

Hegra was the southern city of the Nabataeans, the people who built Petra. More than 100 monumental tombs are carved into the sandstone outcrops of the AlUla valley. It became Saudi Arabia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008 and opened to general visitors in 2020.

The Hegra Day Tour includes transport inside the heritage site, which matters because the tombs are spread across a wide area. The route includes major Nabataean tombs, carved rock faces and the Diwan halls. Tours are led in English and Arabic by AlUla's local storytellers known as Rawis.

Book this as the centre of an AlUla trip rather than an add-on. The site rewards time and the best light comes early or late in the day.
